A Bountiful Summer

Cucumbers, squash, and watermelon, oh my! Seedlings that were started and planted by students in the Spring, produced a bumper crop. In the four raised beds, 225 pounds of cucumbers, 200 pounds of summer squash, and 150 pounds of watermelon were harvested over the summer. Garlic cloves that were planted in December ‘25 produced 100 heads of garlic. Corn planted in the Sharing Garden before the end of school produced 250 ears. To put a monetary value on the harvest, it would be $950.00 using equivalent costs to purchase. All produce was donated to a food assistance program. Good job Whale Branch students
